Our new XXL Ensemble Desk Mats are now available! bitwit.tech/shop?category=Mats
Today is very nostalgic as we're taking a close-up look at my friends' decade old gaming PC! It was super high-end (at the time) and features all kinds of fun hardware, including an especially unique Cooler Master chassis. I may even gut the entire system and fill it with modern hardware, because that's just something I do sometimes.

How ever many likes this video has is how many RX 6000 GPUs will be available on launch day.
well this didnt age well....
I just got mine it sucked waiting for it
What are you doing with the old parts to this machine?
how hot does that thing get
What is the little speaker strapped to the bottom of that case?
Yesterday i opened my dads pc, he build it 2006. This was the first time it was open since 2006
I have the same case for my backup except mine is black with a plexiglass side window. I did the same putting slotted covers in the back and mesh cover plates for 2 of the 3 5.25 bays in the front. I leave the fron door open and have never had a heat issue. It is a very solid case.
Ahhh yes the good old Thermaltake Soprano
Im still booting off 120 😂
thats really bad put on a xeon 5660 on it and 6x4gb RAM but the system is outdated it runs the newest tripple a title not that good, it runs in tripplechannel mode that brings really nice performance
I like these videos. Bring them on!
the title makes you think that they have never cleaned out this PC.
What program do you use to test individual component temperatures?
firewire.
This pc is better then mine
This would be a badass Cyberpunk Mod case
Hey BitWit what software do you use for benchmark tests?
that intel stock cooler is actually pretty good
Okay but when are you building the Kodak PC?
havent seen a firewire jack since i did editing on my skate videos 15+ years ago
"It's been 10 YEARS since they cracked open this gaming PC. I'm going in!" Exactly what I said before I lost my virginity
I am going to reply to this comment 5 years from now
Use win7
Is nobody going to talk about his roast against Jay. like bruh.
HOLY SHIT, I HAVE THE ROG VERSION OF THAT MOTHERBOARD IN MY BROKEN PC!
Missed the chance to go all in Noctua with that brown board.
@Bitwit I am buying this mobo from you should you be able to send it XD
That looks like my old computer case from 2007, the ThermalTake Tsunami dream.
My first was a 2600k!!! Still using as my daily driver too lol!
that case reminds me of the chrysler prowler
That hurt when he pulled out that Corsair Vengeance RAM and said he had that in his first build. I'm currently using that RAM.
imagine the 1TB SSD that i currently have is cheaper that the 64GB one that kyle had in his first PC. it is actually insane how much times have changed
those cpu coolers didnt change much since pentium 4 x)
Omg I had the exact same system
when a video makes you age 30 years in 20 minutes. I felt bad watching him guess about it all. Like I remember when this was all normal.
That ketchup and mustard is killing me...😛 You could swap the fan for anything with a black cable.
6950 xD
I'd advise against reusing old PSU's, capacitor lifetime is usually set at around 10 years. Temperature and load factors in a lot though.
This machine is "boring". I mean it is a machine which can easily be used with an SSD + Windows 10 as a mid-gaming config. Let's check a 25+ years old s432 pentium + 1GB rambus config next time, that would be interesing. :)
this is kinda stupid why not just a buy a new case this case is dogshit
fun fact my brand-new razer mouse pad was sticky on the bottom to
Flash backs to paying 550$ for a 256gb SSD
Back in these Days the Pc-Cases were made from thicker material just like the cars they built before the mid or end 70s.Nowerdays you cough a little bit stronger and voila you got a Dent.Modern not necessary means better :)
7 fps omg
I remember when quad core was the shit
How did they get 2 radeon 6950 graphic cards must be better than the rx 6800 xt that just came out oh wait never mind.
"im just so awesome" did u mean... awesomesauce?
I am still running a second-gen i5 pc that I built almost 10 years ago, planning to upgrade soon as well
This is the perfect video for me iv just bought a b450 a pro max board and a ryzen 5 2600x, I just need to get a bigger case because mine is to small and a graphics card i couldn't decide on what gpu to get but now I'll be getting this thank you dude
I had a i7 990x and 2 6970s on water 10 years ago :)
im gaming on an almost 10 year old system with an fx8350 and radeon hd 7970, gta v, rdr2, bd3
I had that same case for one of my old gaming setups. Except it was black and not that rad yellow
Why does this guy have all the weird facial expressions in the pictures for his videos he looks goofy as fuck
That case is way older than the components installed, the OS used doesn't recognize the hardware fully which is why you cannot enable crossfire. (Thanks to the mainstream crammed drivers compiled by microsoft).
For a 10 year-old PC that hasn't been opened (much) since it was last built, it sure didn't had much dust buildup.
Them fingers on that right hand lookin like you shredding on a guitar
No love for the x58! i got a evga x58 with a i7 930 24 gb of ddr3 1600 in tripple channel config with a 980ti running 2k mathcing that framerate u pulled at 1080p...you really...really undetestimated that setup....only thing it was lacking was 2 more stick of ram and a video card worth a damn!
The Ultimate CyberPunk case!!!!!!
Those graphics cards are not original to the system. Jasmine’s dad probably had a 4870 or a 4870x2 in there when he built it. Possibly two 4870’s or 4850’s in XFire. So that has been upgraded in like 3-4 years after the original build.
Refrigerator vibes
"doesn't have any dents" *punches the side of the case*
That case is terrible. Also this is just more of a "buy a new computer" video. Good stuff none the less.
What mouse is that? 1:19
10 year old computer.... I7..... My computer with a quad core duo
That case be like -"Call me the 'Ocean Master'".
I'm still running my 2600k
The X58 is still a reasonably capable platform.. stick a £30 Xeon X5675 in it and on that board, it'll overclock to about 4 to 4.5ghz easily.. with a decent GPU it would probably run FC5 just fine. Usually a decent overclock on a an X58 hex core Xeon will just about keep up with a 5600XT from what I've read in the past, would have been fun to see him try it before building the new system! What's going on with the RAM though, those boards were triple channel so 8 sticks doesn't make sense at all. No surprise that it had a decent PSU with crossfire and the 120W 920..
The nonchalant fireplace lily open because crayfish chiefly change circa a protective ring. wandering, big cuban
ive got that same board, has a x5670 on it. I have since upgraded, but a good machine back in the day. Ran Raid 0 intel 80gb SSD's
yeah but my laptop from 6 years ago plays warzone at 60-80 FPS on 1440p it cost me $3600 SLI980M's GPU's.
Ha, the computer that I'm using right now is one that I built and it is older than the one in the video.
bruh I have the same speed ram
I like how the ssd is "floating", before we got cage-less "floating" hdd support in cases.
i still boot off an 80GB SSD in my desktop.
thats not a wraith stealth
I think it’s kind of dumb that the mother boards change sockets every 2 years my opinion that’s a little to soonn
ketchup and mustard more like German flag
I have that case in silver, got it off kijiji a few years ago for practice
Would have been more interesting to see what FPS there is by just swapping out the GPU
lol my name is ian and it felt a bit wierd
Damn, i had this case back in 2010 with 4870x2. Top tier FURNANCE.
I expected to see some old fancy CPU cooler and its Intel stock one...
I have a 12 year old pc that i use daily
an entry level cpu now doesnt even have as many cores as that i7 the exact cpu that i am talking about is the amd athlon 3000g
Have 16gb of the Vengeance ram in my system... makes me want to upgrade!
Reminds me of the Thermaltake Tsunami
Don't mind the 122 degree temps for (shader)
Should have removed the bottom card and tested it again. If its not running the second one it could slow the fps down.
Cool I love it really so much you are so amazing
Wow, this was my previous PC , but with the 950, 12gb of ram, and a GTX 460. I just just upgraded to the 3700x with a 580 I got for 90$ last year. Seriously, the first gen I7's were great! Power hungry but as I sit here going from tab to tab on my computer, I don't feel much of a difference, but I do with photo editing, phew! Still.. not the gain I was expecting going from a 64gb ssd in 2010 to an NVME in 2021. SSD's were affordable, if you just only used your OS and a few special programs on a 64gb drive, I believe I got mine at the time for $200, which coming from conventional platers, was mindblowing.
okay
one of those old permantent mouse pads from the 2000s lol i was little and my pap had one on his desk
The only thing u used from the old pc is the psu and the case and u call this uodate
As for your comment of "technology is moving so quickly..." honestly, that's less of an issue in the last 5-8 years. Ever since cpu manufacturers have been focusing on # of cores and not clock speed, you can run a ton of new games on significantly older hardware. (Because most games (even today) are so poorly multithreaded that it doesn't matter, only clock speed matters.) My current CPU is 6 years old (6700k) and I can still run every modern game on the highest settings (unless the game is a PoS). My gpu is overkill for playing at 1080p, and I could easily run a GPU from that era (Like a 980ti) as well and still get above 60 fps.
I may be alone in this, but I freaking LOVE old cases. Especially old cases with removable motherboard trays. They were AWESOME. If they only had better cable management and support for USB3 IO I'd use them more often. They're just... so sturdy. EDIT: Oh yeah and if they only support 80 mm fans that's not super cool, but still fun for a computer where you're not worried about noise.
"Remember booting off a 120 gig ssd" me booting off a 120 gig hdd
@h0k4g3 WHAT _the_ *fuck*
@Ploper Dung its a 2500 rpm too lol
oof
Adding in the old ass PSU "Bomb has been planted"
My wife is still using a 20 dollar black friday 1800w psu in her computer from 6 years ago I'm surprised is hasn't fried everything yet honestly.
I think the blue in pink mat should be the crazy diamond colour
You should hear my old setup with dual amd 2100 cpus and a crapload of fans. After a couple years I stopped and realized it sounded like a hurricane.
One thing that I find funny is almost every single time he builds PC it turns on immediately without anything going wrong
Reusing a 10 yr old power supply? I too like to live dangerously.
that RX5600 will release the magic smoke soon :p
I would paint these parts in silver metal on black
Man, it sure is, yellow........ Kinda pokes you right in the eye.
Monkey see monkey do. Cumon it's like a disease every one of u idiots doing same retro pc content.
